The Relaxed Hustle: A New Way to Create Your Dream Life
What if the secret to success wasn’t working harder, but feeling better?
We live in a world that glorifies the grind. You know the drill: wake up stressed, fill your calendar, push through your exhaustion, and call it ambition. We’ve been there.
We’ve felt the pressure to prove our worth through productivity. But the truth is, that path doesn’t lead to the dream… it leads to burnout.
We’re here to offer a different way. We call it the relaxed hustle. It’s not about doing less. It’s about doing differently. It’s about aligning your energy with your intentions, taking inspired action, and allowing ease to be part of the equation.
More Action Doesn’t Mean More Stress
Recently, I took on a leadership role at my day job, became a mom, and started building Dream Agency. My plate is full, but my spirit is calm because I’ve made the decision not to subscribe to hustle culture.
At first, I fell into the trap of equating business with value. I found myself trying to prove something: that I was a good leader, a hard worker, a capable woman. I wanted validation. And I thought the only way to earn it was to look busy, sound busy, be busy.
But that story didn’t feel true. I was craving a different kind of success— one rooted in ease, flow, and self-trust. So I rewrote the rules for myself. I decided I didn’t need to be constantly overwhelmed to be doing a good job. I didn’t need anyone else’s validation to know I was enough.
And when I made that shift? Everything changed.
My calendar opened up. Meetings shifted. People stepped in to support me. The moment I stopped trying to appear overwhelmed and started choosing presence, life met me with grace.
Your Energy Is Magnetic
During this same season, my co-founder and I were growing Dream Agency together. She was pouring hours into building our brand while also working at a flower shop and driving Uber Eats.
On paper, it looked like hustle. But for her, it didn’t feel that way.
Because she chose her energy first.
Each morning, she asked herself, “How do I want to feel today?” Her answer: relaxed. That feeling guided her through everything. From creating client strategies to arranging flowers to driving deliveries, she stayed grounded in ease.
Even the most mundane tasks became joyful. Evenings driving Uber turned into connection time with her partner, filled with podcast chats and relationship breakthroughs. Instead of fighting the flow, she surrendered to it—and in that surrender, she found peace.
Focus Creates Flow, and Flow Starts with Presence
Presence is the magic ingredient we don’t talk about enough. It’s what allows you to move through your day with calm intention instead of chaotic urgency.
When you’re fully present, you stop measuring your worth by how much you’ve done. You start measuring it by how good you feel.
One afternoon, I was hauling firewood on our farm. Normally, this would feel like a super laborious task to rush through, but I decided to slow down and make it sacred. I thanked the Earth for the wood. I marveled at the ingenuity of the wheelbarrow. My son joined me, and what could have been a chore became a fun memory.
This is the relaxed hustle in action. Choosing to be present, even in the smallest tasks. Choosing to enjoy what you’ve manifested, instead of rushing to the next milestone. That’s where fulfillment lives.
Tools to Shift Your State
So how do you do it? How do you move from overwhelm to ease when life feels like too much?
1. The Me vs Universe To-Do List
Fold a page in half. On one side, write Me To-Do and choose ONLY three core tasks for the day. On the other side, write Universe To-Do and write out everything else swirling in your brain. Then let it go.
Focus only on what’s yours to do.
You’ll be amazed at how much resolves itself when you stop trying to control everything. Trust me, give it a try and watch how some of the tasks you’ve been consumed by somehow magically and miraculously get done without your involvement.
2. Ask Your Body to Show You the Feeling
In a stressful moment, try this: pause and ask, “Body, show me what it feels like to feel relaxed.” Let your shoulders drop.
Let your breath deepen. Let your nervous system regulate.
It seems simple, but it’s powerful. Your body remembers who you are when your mind forgets.
Your Dream Life Is a Perspective
You don’t create your dream life by grinding your way there. You create it by recognizing that you’re already in it.
Our lives aren’t perfect. My co-founder and I are both juggling a lot. But we’re doing it from a place of alignment.
We’re choosing the perspective that this season, this moment, is sacred. We’re allowing joy, even when things are uncertain. We’re choosing presence, even when there’s pressure. We’re practicing appreciation, even when there’s work to do.
And guess what? That perspective changes everything.
So ask yourself: What’s the feeling you want to anchor into today? Is it joy? Freedom? Calm? Presence? Choose it. Live from it. Let it shape your schedule, your decisions, your energy.
Because when you lead with how you want to feel, the right opportunities, people, and outcomes begin to meet you where you are.
You’re no longer chasing your dream life. You’re living it.
